Planes, Trains and Automobiles

Isn't that a movie? That just popped into my head as I was thinking about the next blog. So I am about to take Melanie to the airport for New York. Her plane is, surprise, already running late. But since I am taking her so late at night, she mentioned that I could still just take her and she could just wait at the airport. Which got me to thinking...I actually LOVE to sit in the airport to wait for a flight. Like, I LOVE it. I go early to the airport, just so I can wait. Not kidding. Once, I went to the airport 3 1/2 hours early. The thing I love about waiting in the airport is that first of all, I get anxiety about missing my flight and going through security is always the worst wait. Once I'm through security, I know I can breathe easy. The other thing I like about it, is the fun little stores they have. I love meandering through the stores and buying useless items. The thing I loved about the Denver airport is that they had a salon and after my long road trip, I paid the lady $22 for a 15 minute massage right before my flight. In Vegas, the thing I loved about that airport was that they had Ethel's chocolates in the gate I always flew out of. I flew out of the Vegas airport quite a bit so I loved to buy 3 chocolate truffles from there and sit to read my book or write in my journal. Which brings me to my next point. I love getting to my gate and watching all the interesting people. There are always bratty kids running around, cool business men on their conversations about...business, or unique and awesome old women that travel on their own-like world travelers. I got to talk with one of these such ladies in Denver. She was reading one of my favorite books...The Female Nomad.
I love sitting waiting for a flight because I know that is my time to get caught up on my reading I never get to do, or write in my journal I never have time to write in. I always plan so many things to do, that I never get through everything, but it's nice to just relax and know that I have absolutely no control over the amount of time the plane is delayed. I've stopped worrying about it and accepted the fact that every flight I go on will be late.
