So Tuesday night I was headed to see a friend's band play. I love cover bands, especially 80's ones, but the 90's are pretty good too. I was a little early and my friend was telling me she got some awesome pair of shoes at Payless. Yes, Payless. I haven't been there since I was in college once or twice. I really don't ever go into that place and am a little embarrassed to say I went there! I needed some semi-dressy, kitten heel sandals for work. I started looking around and tried on a couple of pairs of shoes. I was all dressed up in my 90's grunge...not leaving out any details including the jeans with holes all over, red lipstick, dark eyeshadow, converse shoes, hoop earrings, and black bra under white shirt. Got it all. So I am already kind of laughing at other people looking at me. When someone dresses up in 80's gear, you can look at them and think, oh they must be going to a fun party. When you see someone dressing up in 90's gear, it's a little sketchy, it either could be a party, or they just haven't updated their wardrobe yet.
ANYWAY, I was trying on this cute pair of shoes with a little heel on them. I guess before I start this, I should say that I am a klutz, I know I am, and I don't deny it, I prove it ALL the time, and I have learned to just laugh at myself when I do something really dumb. So I had my jeans folded up to about mid-calf so I could see what the shoes looked like...I am also the only one in the aisle thanks to my large feet, I always get the big foot area to myself. I lifted up my right foot to wrap the strap around my heel and as I am putting my foot back down, I accidentally get the heel of the shoe caught in the fold of my pants. It all happened so fast! I tried to get it out, but I already started to tip over. I completely fell on my bum and grabbed for some stability on my way down and pulled down a bunch of boxes of shoes, so the shoes and I both came tumbling to the ground. I was laughing so hard, I just knew someone was going to come around the corner asking if I was ok. I am laughing right now just thinking of it. While I was picking up the shoes, I kept thinking that this TOTALLY should have been caught on tape! It looked like it would fit in a funny movie. I kept thinking of what I would say if someone walked by..."Are you ok?" or "Did you hear that? I hope they are ok." Haha!! The second I got all the shoes back on the shelf, one of the guys that works there walked past and asked me if I was ok. I just kept a straight face and said, "Yeah, I'm fine. No help needed here." But I'm OK, except for a bruised right bum, I'm completely fine.
I ended up buying those shoes and heading to watch the band. They were pretty good. I had fun dancing all by myself front and center, which I realized that I do that a lot and I know that sometimes when I dance, it isn't so pretty, but it's just so much fun. They played some awesome Rage. Who can resist some good Rage?
